Abstract

This study aims to analyze and uncover the profound meaning of the implementation of religious moderation among Buddhists based on the Hasta Ariya Marga (Noble Eightfold Path) in Rajabasa Lama Village, East Lampung Regency. The research design uses a qualitative approach with the descriptive phenomenological method of the Colaizzi model to understand the in-depth subjective experiences of informants in a concrete manner. Data collection was carried out comprehensively through participatory observation techniques, semi-structured in-depth interviews with interfaith leaders, village government officials, Pandita, and local Buddhists, which were strengthened by analysis of formal village documentation studies. The validity of the data was strictly maintained through source triangulation, technique/method triangulation, and time triangulation. The results of the study indicate that the success of religious moderation is driven by the alignment of internal spiritual values ??with national moderation indicators (national commitment, active tolerance, non-violence, and accommodating to local traditions). This value cultivation process is structurally realized through the social discourse of the three pillars of Hasta Ariya Marga: wisdom (paññ?), morality (s?la), and concentration (sam?dhi). This research has significant implications for strengthening compassion-based economic ethics, seamless interfaith social integration, and preserving cultural acculturation without undermining the fundamental religious identity of pluralistic societies.
