Study of Storage Conditions on the Nutraceutical Products and its Implementation at Retail and Whole Sale Stores of Quetta

Abstract

Nutraceuticals are important for providing health benefits, including prevention and treatment of ailments. The target can be achieved with the condition that the nutraceuticals retain their required effectiveness till the consumer’s bucket. A cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate storage conditions of nutraceuticals at retail and wholesale stores. The data revealed that the principal storage conditions mentioned on the label have a great difference between advice and its implementation at storage sites. This might result in loss of potency during improper storage, which not only impacts the efficiency and safety of nutraceutical products but also the health of the user. It becomes the moral responsibility of the custodian of nutraceuticals at retail and wholesale outlets to follow the required storage conditions mentioned on the label to ensure that the quality of the nutraceutical product is not compromised.
