Solid Waste Landfilling/Dumping for a Cleaner Management: A Case Study of Scientometric Analysis of Last 20 Years and Prospects
Main Article Content
Abstract
The current trends of solid waste generation and its landfilling/dumping present a global challenge to cleaner environment and sustainable development. The aim of the study is to present the research dynamics of solid waste landfilling (SWL) during the past 20 years based on a bibliometric analysis. This is the first bibliometric analysis which was performed on the literature cited in Scopus for depicting the present research trend on solid waste landfilling. 1301 documents including articles and review papers are analyzed. This study identified (i) annual scientific production, (ii) top 5 journals with their documents per year, (iii) their cite score, (iv) most prolific authors/institutions/countries, (v) subject area, (vi) co-occurrence map of the keywords and (vii) the top 10 funding sponsors are tracked for progressive evolution of solid waste landfilling/dumping. The findings of this study will be beneficial to academic researchers, local government, and policy makers contending solid waste landfilling issues and provide a strategy for its effective utilization of energy.
